The Art Director is responsible for leading the creative execution of design projects on a seasonal basis for the Gap Outlet brand. The position requires a highly motivated individual who can concept and strategize as well as execute creative projects. Inherent within the scope of the role, is driving the seasonal look and feel of brand creative elements including store and online, photo art direction, casting, graphics among other elements.

The position is a strategic role that requires strong leadership and communication skills as well as the ability to function productively in a large, cross-functional environment including Merchandising, E-commerce, Product Design and Visual Merchandising.

  • Lead the creative execution of design projects on a seasonal basis for the Gap Outlet brand.
  • Drive the seasonal look and feel of brand creative elements including store and online, photo art direction, casting and graphics.
  • Partner with the Store & Online Marketing teams to translate business and communication strategies into compelling, consumer-driven creative concepts.
  • Partner with co-leaders within the Creative and Production teams to ensure Copy, Online, Windows and In-Store elements are cohesive and in line with the overall Gap Brand seasonal concept.
  • Present creative work with conviction to business partners and senior management to gain support and consensus and advance overall business objectives.
  • Research creative trends in competitive markets and apply learnings to develop new ideas and solutions and optimize overall creative efforts.
  • 7-10 years of art direction/design experience.
  • Possess strong conceptual abilities and strategy experience.
  • The ability to be flexible, nimble and dynamic in practice.
  • A passion for the Gap brand and a strong understanding of the Gap brand vision/positioning and style aesthetic.
  • A sophisticated sense of color with a high attention to detail.
  • The ability to work well under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Exhibits an understanding of and passion for fashion and retail, with a strong style sensibility.
  • The ability to inspire creative teams with an appreciation for creative consistency.
  • Highly detail-oriented with uncompromising standards.
  • Minimum education of a Bachelor of Arts degree in Graphic Design with educational training in typography.
  • Current and evolving sense of design.
  • Ability to create and execute a broad creative vision.
  • Knowledge of marketing materials and processes.
  • Expert knowledge of design-related software (Illustrator, In Design and Photoshop).
  • Good interpersonal and presentation skills with an ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to work within the established budget and time constraints.
