GENERAL JOB SUMMARY: Under minimal supervision, the instructor is responsible for fostering student learning through effectively teaching a combination of Apparel Merchandising and Design courses (15 credit hours) each semester. Other responsibilities include evaluating and reporting student performance and progress in assigned courses in accordance with department, division and College policies and procedures, committee service, and curriculum development, maintenance, and assessment. The instructor may also be responsible for advising current and prospective students, and supporting department outreach and recruitment activities. Teaching load will be assigned by the dean and may include evening and weekend courses as well as distance learning classes. Lead -- regardless of title, through positive influence. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Effectively prepare, organize, and teach assigned courses in accordance with established syllabi. Prepare and maintain accurate course syllabi and course handouts for each course taught. Evaluate and record student performance/achievement on a regular basis and provide students with timely feedback. Participate in student learning assessment projects. Maintain established office hours and meet with students as necessary. Collaborate in the development, assessment, and revision of curriculum. Participate in the development and/or execution of departmental tasks and projects in the area of instruction or instructional support. Regularly engage in professional development activities and actively seek information about developing trends and ideas. Advise prospective and current students. Perform other related work duties as assigned. Three years of recent, relevant full time work experience or teaching experience. Teaching/training experience. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS: Master's degree in Apparel, Merchandising, or Design. Community college teaching experience.
